50km Charity Walk for Bucks Activity Project
For our first challenge, we’re taking on a big one.
We will be walking 50km in under 24 hours to raise money for the Bucks Activity Project, part of Action for Children. The project provides vital support, activities and short breaks for children and young people with disabilities and additional learning needs across Buckinghamshire.
These services play an important role in helping young people build confidence, develop friendships and take part in activities they may otherwise miss out on. Supporting organisations like this is exactly what Amping Up Our Community is all about.
We’ve set ourselves a fundraising target of £1,000, and with the support of the local community we’re confident we can reach — and hopefully exceed — that goal. Every donation will help fund the incredible work being done for children and families in our area.
While the challenge will certainly test our legs and endurance, we’re proud to be doing it for such an important cause — and as a thank you for the support, we’ve got a little something planned for one of our donors.
The Long Road Ahead
Taking on a 50km walk in 24 hours is no small challenge. It will take determination, preparation, and no doubt a fair amount of aches and pains along the way. But challenges like this are exactly what Amping Up Our Community is all about — pushing ourselves to do something meaningful for a great cause.
While the distance may test us physically, it’s nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by many of the families supported by Bucks Activity Project. Knowing that this walk will help raise both awareness and funds for such an important service will keep us motivated every step of the way. And to make things a little more interesting, there may even be a small surprise in store for one of the people who supports the challenge.
For those wondering, we haven’t made this an easy route either. The walk will include a variety of hills and steep inclines, taking us through places such as Ivinghoe Beacon, Pitstone Hill and Ashridge, to name just a few. We’ve mapped out the full route, which you can see below. To put the distance into perspective, if we walked in a straight line from our starting point in Marsworth, we’d end up roughly in Central London.
With the support of our local community behind us, we’re excited to take on the challenge and do our part to make a positive difference.
A Little Something For Our Donors
If you haven’t picked up on it yet, we’ve got a little surprise in store for one of our supporters.
The team at LAMPS (Lighting And Mains Power Solutions) in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire have very generously offered to fund a prize giveaway that all of our donors can enter.
The aim of the game? Guess what our finishing time will be.
The rules are as follows:
One guess per donation
The closest guess to our finish time wins
All guesses must be made before the start of the walk (Friday 22nd May at 6:00am).
To enter, make a donation on our JustGiving page and write your guess in the donation comment.
In the event of a tie, the prize will go to the person who submitted their guess first.
